This is Pepita, she is a Majorera goat and she will be travelling soon to Fuerteventura in the Canary Islands (Spain)....she is so lucky....I wish I was in her place!

This last september, when the twinship "Mare e Monti" took place in Gran Tarajal, Maria (Germana's daughter) and Blanche my friend, had the great idea to continue the artistic exchange between Valbruna Patchwork Club and the quilters of Gran Tarajal through a Round Robin. I chose the happy goat (it is an original design by Blanche) as my block and requested happy and bright colors from my friends in Fuerte and....a spanish name for each goat!

Lei e' Pepita, una capra Majorera, cioe' autoctona di Fuerteventura e presto sara' in viaggio per le Canarie...come vorrei essere al suo posto! Il settembre scorso, quando e' avvenuto il gemellaggio fra Valbruna Patchwork Club e le quiltiste di Gran Tarajal, Maria (la figlia piu' giovane di Germana, eletta nuova presidente del club durante l'assemblea di luglio) e Blanche, hanno avuto una bellissima idea in modo da continuare lo scambio artistico fra i due gruppi: un Round Robin.

Ho scelto la divertente capra come blocco per il mio RR. (design originale di Blanche), colori allegri e...un nome spagnolo per ogni capra!

quilts from beautiful islands

I wish i could go and meet these quilters.... they live in the Canary Islands! My long time friend Blanche teaches quilting there and like me she is pioneering the art. This year she taught a few beginners classes and just before they were done they received the project " A thousand colours ".

Many of them had not even completed their first sampler that they set out, under Blanche guidance, to sew not one, but four quilts! Muchas gracias quiltistas de Gran Tarajal! Muchas gracias Blanche!

Quilts dalle Canarie

Come vorrei andare a conoscere queste quiltiste! Vivono alle Isole Canarie dove la mia cara Blanche insegna patchwork, e' una vera pioniera, proprio come me. Quest'anno ha insegnato alcuni corsi per principianti a Fuerteventura e le quiltiste di Gran Tarajal non avevano ancora terminato il loro primo sampler quando hanno ricevuto il progetto " Mille Colori ". Sotto la guida di Blanche hanno portato tutte le stoffe che avevano ed hanno cucito non uno, ma ben quattro quilts! Muchas gracias quiltistas de Gran Tarajal, muchas gracias Blanche!
