oggi e' una bella giornata

Oggi è una bella giornata
azzura d'aria cristallina
cosí tersa e pulita
da metterti in pace con la vita
Tutta da inventare con mille
e ancor più mille cose da fare
buttare all'aria la casa
sistemare il giardino
dedicarla a me...
magari uno shampo dolce
al latte e miele
lavare con calma le idee
tanta schiuma, un bel risciaquo
come le onde con le maree
Peró, anche non far niente
socchiudere gli occhi
un disco di jazz che canta in sordina
Oggi è davvero una bella giornata
sul divano di casa mia
fra le tende e il pulviscolo solare
ho visto passare la nostalgia.

Oggi è stata davvero una bella giornata....

Happy birthday my love, my companion and friend!

( tutto quello che mi ha chiesto è stata una colazione americana con pancakes e salsicetta, la cenetta per due di stasera la cucina lui!)

Poi ho aspettato Anna che da Il Cairo mi aveva promesso un quiltino per Mille Colori.

Attesa, trepidazione, curiosita... è il terzo che mi arriva e che posso vedere e toccare, ma soprattutto

conoscere la persona che ha scelto di donare un caldo quilt che porta un sorriso in Emilia, non perchè mancano coperte, non perchè è quello che si deve fare, ma per amore. Amore per qualcuno che non si conosce e che è stato toccato per sempre da un evento che ha sconvolto la sua vita. Potevamo essere io o te al loro posto.

Le quilters sono fantastiche, danno a piene mani, donano senza riserve delle loro amate e cullate stoffe e del loro tempo, togliendolo da altre cose e assaporando ogni momento e ogni punto che le porta vicine a chi ricevera' il quilt.

Ognuno ha il suo modo di vivere il patch e per Anna significa usare tessuti che per lei hanno un significato. Significato per il luogo dal quale provengono, chi glieli ha regalati o dove li ha trovati: Senegal, India,  Indonesia, Africa e altri luoghi dove la vita l'ha portata seguendo suo marito.

A precious blanket since every piece of fabric came from a different place, each of them has a meaning and carries a story of life and friendship.

Anna mi ha raccontato un pò della sua vita, io della mia, abbiamo molte cose in comune oltre al Patchwork, abbiamo più o meno la stessa età, allevato figli e vissuto in altre culture, parlato altre lingue e supportato i nostri mariti nella loro vita lavorativa.  Tutto questo in pochi minuti, questo fa la condivisione!

We shared a little about our lives, Patchwork, our children, living in other cultures, speaking other languages and supporting our husbands. 

Anna, grazie di cuore per il quiltino, per avermi partecipato un po' della tua vita e di te. Fai buon ritorno al Cairo e....keep in touch!

Marinella, entri nella storia di "Mille colori per i bimbi d'Emilia"! Il tuo quilt è il primo ad essere arrivato e l'inizio della "pila" che spero diventera' alta presto.

The first quilt in the "pile" of "A thousand colors for the children of Emilia", Marinella from Rome is a biginner...not bad, actually very well, what do you think?

Mi ha detto che è alle prime armi, mica male, anzi molto bene!!!

Spero che altri seguiranno presto, ne ho visti in corso d'opera e ne ho "sentiti" in corso d'opera.

let's do it again!

This picture of the historical watch tower of Finale just breaks my heart, but much more the ten thousand people housed in tents after the earthquake that took place in the Modena province (northern Italy) at the end of may. It is the neverending quake, the shakes were many and very strong and they do not seem to cease, the people live in constant fear. 27 the dead and entire small villages crumbled to the ground. The area that was hit  was full of historical buildings, treasures of Italy and also of many important businesses and artisans who lost everything. Thousands are our of work, but the "emiliani" (the folks who live in Emilia the region that was hit) are lively folks, very industrious and after the first shake went back to their businesses and factories location  just to see what was left  crumble down irreparably with the second strong shake. 

All Italy is helping again after three years fom the Abruzzo's quake, where a lot still needs to be done!

Exactly three years ago this blog was filled with posts about the quilting project called "A Thousand colours for Abruzzo's children" that brought, through the solidarity and love of the world's quilting community 300 quilts to preschool children in the area of the hearthquake.

Let's do it again!!! Today I invite the world's quilting community to participate in the second project "A Thousand colours for Emila's children".

I remember the excitement when the quilts arrived one at the time or entire boxes full of them, so colorful, so beautiful. so full of love from all over the world...

...the packing of the huge RV, hardly any room left for Vincent and I!

The affectionate kisses of the children receiving their quilt and the grateful hand shakes of the parents...

 It was one of the most meaningful experiences of  our lives.

P.S. Thank you all for reading such a long post! The picture of the watchtower of Finale is from the internet. After a few days of standing like you see in the photo, it crumbled to the ground while the inhabitants of the town whatched in sadness the end of their beloved tower.
